Speaking on Adobe XD!

BigDesign_340

I am honored to be speaking on Adobe XD at this year’s Big Design Conference in Addison, Texas in September. With my long history of user experience prototyping, Adobe XD is a welcomed addition to my arsenal of tools. Here is the description of the talk:

Go from idea to prototype faster with Adobe Experience Design CC (Beta), the first all-in-one cross-platform tool for designing and prototyping websites and mobile apps. In this session, Chris Griffith will show you how to design and prototype a complete experience using the new Adobe XD app. Learn tips and tricks to immediately be more productive creating a great user experience. He will introduce you to the capabilities of this rapid prototyping tool from its repeat grid to the built-in UI kits. He then will go further and show you how to share your work, gain feedback and even view it on your mobile device.

AppaloozaLA!

AppaloozaLA

I had to miss speaking at the one in San Francisco, but I am back in the saddle to speak at the Los Angeles stop! This is going to be a great event filled with some incredible speakers. Personally, I will be presenting on using PhoneGap Build to quickly build native mobile applications.

The event will be on Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (PST) at the Art Institute of CA-Los Angeles.

For more information, visit the EventBrite page. Hope to see you there!

Prototypes, Process & Play Conference

p3

I so wish I could attend this conference, but alas I will be in the recording booth at lynda.com

Spend 3 days focused on advanced topics and leadership skills for designers and developers. You’ll learn from the wisdom and experience of brilliant professionals who have been there, done that, and have shown others how to do it, too. All of this happens in one of the coolest places in Chicago—The Museum of Science & Industry!

Attending PhoneGap Day!

phonegap I am going to be at PhoneGap Day this Friday! So, what is PhoneGap Day?

PhoneGap Day is one part conference and one part celebration. Expect a fun and informative day packed with people who are using PhoneGap as part of their mobile app development. Meet members from the PhoneGap team, hear the latest PhoneGap news, and find out what’s coming next!

I will be showing my latest version of ConfiGAP as well 🙂

Creating Mobile Applications with jQuery Mobile and PhoneGap Build

Adobe MAX

Where the world’s creative minds collide.

At this year’s Adobe MAX, I taught three workshops on Creating Mobile Applications with jQuery Mobile and PhoneGap Build. It was a lot of fun, and hopeful worthwhile for those who attended. As promised here are the files: the workbook, the slides, and the resources. Even if you did not attend, maybe the workbook and lab files might prove useful.

I will be posting enhancements to these files over the coming weeks to cover a few advanced features that I knew I would not be able to cover in the 90 minutes.

Adobe MAX 2013 is a wrap!

I will write more later on the show, but I want to jot down a few thoughts on the train ride back to San Diego. This year’s MAX was another memorable event. Obviously the focus of Adobe has shifted, but even so there was still a large collection of familiar faces mingling throughout the conference halls and after hour gatherings.

I am proud to have had the chance to present three workshops this time. For those who attended, I hope it was worth your time. I will be posting the slides and other materials shortly. In addition, I will post the ‘enhancements’ that I promised as well.

I am looking forward to next year’s event (where ever it maybe).

D2WC jQueryMobile Training

Thanks again to everyone who came to my training session at this year’s D2WC! I hope everyone was able to learn a bit more about both jQueryMobile and PhoneGap. As promised here are all the slides and demo files that I used during the training:

360|Flex – Choosing the Right Mobile Development Platform

Choosing the Right Mobile Platform

I had the pleasure of presenting “Choosing the Right Mobile Development Platform ” at this year’s 360|Flex conference. A full recap of the conference is in the works, but I wanted to get my slides up for those who wanted them. Here is what I spoke on,

As more and more projects are requiring mobile applications, developers are faced with a wide range of options. AIR for mobile? PhoneGap? Titanium’s Appcelerator? Sencha? Native? Which development environment makes sense? This session will explore the advantages and limitations of each of these environments from someone who has been in the mobile application development world for over 4 years. Get a clear picture of what these technologies can offer for your mobile development needs.

360 Flex is coming!!

360 Flex Conference360|Flex 2012 is just around the corner! I, like many of my friends are wrapping up our presentations. I am honored to be presenting again at one of the best tech conferences I have attended. It is no surprise that I am talking about mobile, it is was a do for a living. But the mobile space is a rapidly evolving one, with lots of technical choices that have to be made before you create the next “killer” app. I am going to share my thoughts  on several of the major mobile development technologies during my talk on Monday.

For the talk I have building the same app with 5 different solutions (jQuery Mobile, PhoneGap, Appcelerator, Flex Mobile, and Sencha Touch). It has been crazy process (and I am not done with them yet). But, it has given me a lot of insight into the strength and weakness of each solution. One nice thing, 4 of the solutions will have representatives at the 360Flex, so if I get something wrong I am sure they will tell me. But, you want to know more about a specific solution, this would be the time to do so.

Hope to see there!

RIA Unleashed Conference apps available

For those attending the RIA Unleashed conference in Boston, MA, the unofficial conference application are now available for both iOS and Android. Although FiTC has their own app for their conferences, I did the iOS version for last year’s conference before the conference joined the FiTC family. So, I decided to update that app to have this year’s conference. Try them both out and let me know what you liked or disliked in the app. Enjoy the conference.
